DOCTRINE OF THE PAPACY

The doctrine of the Papacy has been attacked ever since the Vatican Council in 1870 infallibly defined this doctrine.  Efforts have been made time and again to minimize the doctrine of the Papacy. In fact, the Vatican II People of God Church, which erroneously claims to be Catholic, has reduced the Pope to a first among equals in line with the heresy of the various Orthodox churches, rather than the constant teaching of the Catholic Church.
With the usurpation of the Papacy by Angelo Roncalli in 1958 and his subsequent publication of the heretical Encyclical Pacem in Terris, it was necessary to determine exactly what the truth is. It is certain that the teachings of Pacem in Terris are in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Syllabus of Errors of Pope Pius IX.  In order to declare Angelo Roncalli as Pope, it is necessary to hold that the Syllabus of Errors is not an infallbile doctrine, but a teaching that may change with time, as the Modernists hold.  In fact, Joseph Ratzinger has called Vatican II a counter syllabus
After the changes of Vatican II that is the introduction of the pagan Novus Ordo Missae (See Imposter Popes and Idol Altars) an explanation must be found.  The first proposed is that when a Pope becomes a heretic, he loses the Papacy.  Others later held that although a Pope can become a heretic, he yet remains Pope.  This contradicts Saint Robert Bellarmines logical conclusion that it is impossible for someone to remain head of the Church, which he has left by heresy.  In the 1970's it was erroneously reported that Saint Robert Bellarmine held the position that a Pope could become a heretic.  Andre Perlant refuted this position in 1989.
In the early 1980's Guerard des Lauriers, a former professor at Lefebvre's Econe seminary, decided that Karol Wojtyla was not totally pope, but only materially, proposing a distinction between formal possession (that is true possession) of the papacy and mere material possession (that is physical possession) of the Papacy.  This so called material-formal theory took hold among many Tradiitonalists, for it allowed them to disobey Wojtyla and continue without a Pope.  This theory was better than Lefebvre's theory that Wojtyla certainly was Pope, but because of his non-Traditional action one could merrily disobey him, until he converted.  And this is the key to the Lefebvre and des Lauriers theories conversion.  The crisis in the Church would end, when Wojtyla converts.  But if Wojtyla must convert, then he cannot be a Catholic now.  If he is not a Catholic now, how can hehave had any claim to the Papacy.  The successors to both Lefebvre and des Lauriers must now await Ratzinger's conversion, which is equally as absurd.
Opposed to these two positions is the long held sede vacantist position, named for the term sede vacante, which occurs after the death of one Pope until his successor is elected.  However, it has come to mean the condition of vacancy in the Papacy, which began with Pope Pius XII's death in October 1958, but will never end.  Sede Vacantists hold the theory that when a Pope becomes a heretic, he immediately resigns from the Papacy.  However, Cum Ex Apostolatus Officio holds that a heretic cannot become Pope in the first place and a look at Angelo Roncalli easily demonstrates that he was a heretic prior to his apparent election in 1958 as John XIII. Roncalli's successors have also been shown to be heretics prior to their apparent elections.
A small remnant held the true position that when Pope Pius XII died on October 9, 1958, the Papacy became vacant, and that this vacancy needed to be ended.  As history demonostrates it took over 30 years to actually call and complete a Papal Election.  The reason for this long delay is the fact that many held erroneous and even ehretical views in regard to the papacy; views that are still held to this day by the resistance to Vatican II, as Traditionalists like to think of themselves.  Unfortunately Traditionalists not only resist some of the obvious heresies of Vatican II, they also resist Catholic doctrine, holding some of the more subtle heresies of Vatican II.

Is the Pope Catholic?

Of course, the Pope is Catholic, because it is impossible for the Pope to cease being a Catholic.  Is Ratzinger Pope?  No, because Ratzinger is not a Catholic.
